I wanted to take a moment and encourage you to become active in the current election process and exercise your right to vote. No incumbent should be assured of victory, and that is as it should be. You should weigh the tangible accomplishments of all candidates to one another and make the best decision for the future of this organization. So, I encourage you to ask the hard questions of all of us that are seeking your vote and your support, because leading the alumni association is serious business.
No national officer receives a salary. No national officer has an expense account. No national officer receives acclaim and accolades. Any alumnus that holds a local, regional or national office does so sacrificially and largely at his own expense. So, it is of paramount importance that this individual has a selfless attitude and is self-motivated. It is equally important that the leaders you select have the ability to not only make promises, but to also get the job done and put in the work.
As you weigh your options and decide on the leadership of this organization I would like for you to keep one crucial thing in mind: Leading the national Alumni Association is serious business. I would ask that you carefully view all of our platform statements and weigh them heavily. You should put aside the political rhetoric that is inherent in any election process, and make the decision based on what we have done as candidates and what you think our demonstrated capacity is to move this organization forward.
I trust you in your ability to weigh the choices and make the right decision for the Association. Please click here for more information on the voting process.
