Morehouse College Alumnus – at the Helm of P-TECH

There’s been an ongoing conversation about how the American education system needs to be improved, enlarged, reformed if we are to maintain and keep up with the rest of the world. And we need to include EVERYONE in this progress.   Many Morehouse College Alumni are involved in education in many levels….indeed we are making a mark.

A Morehouse College Alumnus, Rashid Ferrod Davis ’92, has successfully embarked and tackled this mission with his co-creation of P-TECH, Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH).  P-Tech’s Founding Principal  is Rashid Ferrod Davis. One of his roles is to assess his students’ progress as the innovative grades 9 through 14 school – which confers both the high school diploma and an associate degree in applied science – enters its second year.

So successful is the New York City based school that P-TECH was mentioned in in President Barack Obama’s 2013 State of the Union Speech address as a shining example of science, technology and math education.

And P-TECH has also received much positive press – including this article from The New York Daily World and this article in the New York Times.
